Ms. Cervone is the Associate Director of the Northeast Region of UCLA SMP. She was formerly the Assistant Director, Educational Leadership, at The Education Alliance Brown University and provides consultation and support for states, districts and schools related to the role of leadership in improving schools. She specializes in working with leaders in low-performing schools in both urban and rural areas. Ms. Cervone was the lead researcher on the New Haven District Project, a three-year effort aimed at documenting the effects of district policy implementation in persistently low-performing schools. She also managed the research and writing on a comprehensive project providing consultation to state and district education agencies in the northeast, resulting in the publication of “Leadership in a changing environment: State and district responses to NCLB.” Prior to her tenure at Brown, Ms. Cervone worked with the Rhode Island Office of Higher Education and the State Department of Education on the development of curriculum frameworks and standards. She holds an M.A. from Rhode Island College and a B.S. from Cornell University.
