Mrs. Martinez-Miller is UCLA SMP’s Director of Faculty. She holds a Ph.D. in Spanish language and literature from the University of Southern California. She has taught at USC and California State University, Los Angeles for over 20 years, where she taught graduate courses in curriculum and instruction, including language acquisition, and specific courses in the teaching of mathematics, science, social science, and language arts. Mrs. Martinez-Miller was a teacher and administrator in the Los Angeles Unified School District for 27 years, and left the principalship of Magnolia Avenue Elementary School in 1993 to join UCLA SMP. Mrs. Martinez-Miller served twelve years as a member of the governing board of the South Pasadena Unified School District. Her emphasis is linking leadership and learning to create schools where all students flourish.
