Classroom Walk-Through Workshops Go National

LOS ANGELES — The UCLA School Management Program (SMP) is taking its highly regarded Classroom Walk-Through methodology onto the national scene this fall. This no-cost method of improving instructional strategies is implemented by teachers for teachers.

Through a two-day introduction and a series of four-day workshops being held throughout the US, educators will learn the Classroom Walk-Through process, and be given an opportunity to practice it during visits to schools. Participants will become skilled at converting the inquiries and observations of student work in classrooms into action. This non-evaluative process ensures the support of connecting teacher practices, student achievement, and the school’s mission.

SMP is a UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies center that has worked with public school teachers and school administrators since 1992. It has enjoyed much success with its Classroom Walk-Through Institutes in Southern California.

Funding for the workshops has been provided through the Northeast and Islands Regional Educational Laboratory at Brown (LAB), a program of The Education Alliance at Brown University.

The workshops will be held on the following dates:

Rhode Island, Oct. 24-27, 2005
New Hampshire, Oct. 31-Nov. 3, 2005
Puerto Rico, Sept. 15-16, 2005
